 BackgroundIstituto Superiore Antincendi (ISA) is responsible for high-level teaching of the “Corpo Nazionale dei Vigili del Fuoco”, the national organization of firemen in Italy. Moreover, ISA has the mission of organizing of events and conferences on safety and security issues and of disseminating technical information within the “Corpo Nazionale dei Vigili del Fuoco”. ISA offers classrooms, as well as accommodation facilities for the course attendees, and is located in a central and easy to reach location in Rome. In addition, ISA is responsible for the management of information technology systems supporting distance learning within “Corpo Nazionale dei Vigili del Fuoco”. ISA is collaborating with the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Rome “La Sapienza” in several educational and research activities. In particular, the collaboration with Dipartimento di Informatica e Sistemistica is being developed through a research Laboratory on "Intelligent Systems for Emergency and Civil Defence" (SIED), lead by Prof. Daniele Nardi, which has been established at ISA. You can easily reach "Istituto Superiore Antincendi" by underground (B-line, "Piramide" station), or bus (23 or 769). It's also only 400 meters far from F.S. train station "Ostiense", which is linked with the international Fiumicino Airport. Here are simple instructions to reach ISA: - From the airport, look for the train to Termini Station, it takes about 20 minutes and costs about 10 euros
- From Termini Station (the main train station of Rome) you should find the B-Line Underground (the blue one) and take that to Piramide station
- From Piramide station you can refer to the map below and reach the Istituto Superiore Antincendi (ISA) by foot (about 5 minutes) or take a taxi
- Once you are in the main entrance of the Institute, ask for "Palazzina H" (i.e. "Building H")
