The IEEE International Workshop on Safety, Security, and Rescue Robotics (SSRR2007) is dedicated to identifying and solving the key issues necessary to field capable robots across a variety of challenging applications.

After being held in Tampa, Florida USA (2003), Bonn, Germany Europe (2004), Kobe, Japan Asia (2005), Washington, D.C USA (2006), this year SSRR07 will be hosted at the Istituto Superiore Antincendi, Roma Italy (September 27-29 2007). This fifth workshop in the series will address both the research challenges posed by search and rescue scenarios and the design of deployable robotic systems that satisfy user-defined requirements. It will be co-located with the Rescue Robotics Camp 2007 and Rescue Robotics Excercise to create a unique opportunity for development and exchange of research ideas and technical solutions.

Scientific program will include:

  • Technical and scientific contributed papers on topics such as:
    • Rescue Robotics research
    • Technology developments
    • Application expertise
  • Invited talks from industry academia and first responder experts
  • Demonstration of Search and Rescue Robots and results of Rescue Robotics Camp

The expected attendees will be among:

  • Researchers and developers of robotic systems, sensors, and components
  • Emergency responders and incident managers
  • Government program managers developing applicable technologies

Dates: September 27-29 2007
